Mode of Action
Acetochlor
Selective herbicide, absorbed mainly by shoots and roots of germinating weeds. It inhibits cell division by blocking protein synthesis and long chain fatty acids. Its mode of action is elongase inhibition, and inhibition of geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate (GGPP) cyclization enzymes, part of the gibberellin pathway.
Mesotrione
Selective pre- and post-emergence control of a wide range of broad-leaved and grass weeds. It is a member of the benzoyl cyclohexane-1,3-dione family of herbicides, which are chemically derived from a natural phytotoxin obtained from the Californian bottlebrush plant, Callistemon citrinus. The compound acts by competitive inhibition of the enzyme 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD), a component of the biochemical pathway that converts tyrosine to plastoquinone and alpha-tocopherol. It is rapidly taken up by weed species following foliar application, and is distributed within the plants by both acropetal and basipetal movement.
Atrazine
Selective systemic herbicide, absorbed principally through the roots, but also through the foliage, with translocation acropetally in the xylem and accumulation in the apical meristems and leaves. It interferes with photosynthesis of broadleaf plants and grasses. It is used both before and after they sprout.
Application Guide
GOVERNOR® 580 SE controls weeds before they germinate and start competing with maize. It eradicates broad leaves and annual grasses in maize including weeds resistant to acetolactate synthase (ALS), Triazine & glyphosates. Controls weeds with one application as a pre-emergence and early post- Emergence.
Application timing
Pre-Emergence Application: As for the cultivation i.e immediately after planting or sowing your maize seeds but not emerged from soil is well moist for effective weed management.
Post emergence: After the crops have emerged from the soil up to 2-3 leaf stage, weeds should be actively growing.
GOVERNOR® 580 SE Delivers:
- Effective management of resistant weed varieties making it suitable for resistance management programs.
- Long lasting residual control offers an excellent long-lasting solution during all growth stages of crops.
- As post-emergence, it can be applied up to 4 leaf stages, offering a broad application window.
- Excellent crop safety when used as indicated
